Edward Ruscha discovered his artistic talents early in his childhood. He loved drawing cartoons, and his mother encouraged him towards his goal of attending art school. His father was less supportive. His father was disapproving, but he changed his mind when Chouinard Art institute, an art school located in California, accepted him. He was able to meet Walt Disney and was offered lucrative jobs by him during his time at Chouinard.

Ruscha's book of artist photographs often contains blank pages. Sometimes, the spreads are double-paged and contain as many as ten pages. These pages serve as invitations to the viewers to engage with the artwork. He often tried to simplify his artistic vision. His work is still influential today after almost 60 years.

His images often depicted Los Angeles' landscapes, lifestyles, and characters. His work was graphically simple, but he was playful and deeply interested in the vernacular.

Edward Ruscha was a Nebraska native who later moved to Los Angeles in order to continue his art education. While attending college, he began painting and studying art. He started to experiment in different mediums like painting and drawing cartoons. Rene Magritte was an influence on his art as well as Raymond Hains. He was educated at Chouinard Art Institute. Later, he became a member the Ferus Gallery Los Angeles.

A gift from Paul '60 and Helen '62 Anbinder greatly expanded the Cornell University Library's collection of contemporary artists' books. He also published "Ed Ruscha, Wordworks," which contains 575 Ruscha-inspired word works. The artist personally inscribes the books.

50 Cent recently experienced this. The line from his song Get Rich Or Die Trying is "I'm going down a motherfucker / I don’t know why, but I might." Someone heard this song and thought it meant that he was going to kill someone. A man threatened to kill him, and called him. So 50 Cent changed the lyrics.
